The hotel is wheelchair friendly with an elevator/lift for ease of access. To find out more see ‘About Us’. The Hotel is situated in the centre of Tinahely, an old estate village in the Derry river valley, Southwest Wicklow. It is well documented that the village was burned to the ground in the 1798 Rebellion. Aanecdotal evidence suggests that Murphy’s hotel escaped destruction as residents fanned smoke out the windows to create the impression that the public house, as it was then, had already caught fire.
The hotel was purchased by the Horan family in 2005 and opened as a bar & lounge Christmas of the same year. Most recently it has been renovated to include ten bedrooms earning it hotel status, a real labour of love for the family members who were actively involved in the build. All rooms have been finished to a very high standard, comfort being paramount and are equipped with Wi-Fi, TV, and are all en suite. The hotel has an elevator/lift for ease of access and a wheelchair friendly room.
The hotel boasts an extensive menu, with steak being a popular choice. All beef is sourced from the Horan family farm located in the nearby Ballinglen with other food produce predominantly sourced locally.
Its proximity to the Wicklow Way and Ballybeg House wedding venue makes it a popular choice for many. You are guaranteed a warm welcome by staff and family members who will endeavour to make your stay an enjoyable one and who will exercise flexibility to accommodate your requirements.
